2010 Duck Race Pictures
The Main Event at Easter
The  three  Mandurah Rotary clubs, RC of Mandurah, RC of Mandurah Districts and RC of Mandurah City,  again joined  forces  to  stage  the  second  Mandurah  Rotary Duck  Race  on  Easter  Saturday, 23 April  2011,  in  conjunction  with  a  Rotary  family fun day and fair,  including  stalls, entertainment and activities for families young and old.

Objectives include - to provide a family fun day at Easter to benefit the Mandurah community and visitors; give Rotary some positive public exposure; and to raise funds for the Rotary WA Cord Blood Bank and other Rotary projects run by the three participating clubs.  For more info on the major beneficiary, or to make a tax deductible donation to the Rotary WA Cord Blood Bank see:  www.rotarywacordblood.org.au

The Duck Race
The tickets for the small yellow  ducks  were available  to  the  public  at  $5  each as a raffle for wonderful prizes, including a car.
Tickets will be sold by Rotarians from the three Mandurah Clubs.

The Good Guys Corporate (Dressed) Ducks Competition
The  larger  (true  size)  ducks  were sold  to  businesses, schools, community organisations, clubs and the public, for a donation to the supported projects, to compete in a corporate  best  dressed  duck competition. Competitors dressed or decorated their ducks to their chosen theme. Competing ducks were on display on the day of the event in a marquee with judging towards the end of the event.

In 2011 we had a major sponsor for the Corporate Ducks competition.

Last Year's Event- Easter 2010
Last year Nearly 5000 ducks  were launched  into  Mandjar Bay just off the main Mandurah foreshore from one of the Bouvard Cruises boats.  They had  a  roped off  area  to  traverse  and  the  first  4  plastic  ducks  over  the  line  won  prizes. The race was somewhat extended in time due to the ducks refusing to get started in the right direction.  With a bit of help from the canoe fraternity they eventually headed for the finishing line and winners were plucked from the water.  Our thanks to David Templeman who was an excellent race caller and we hope he will reprise his performance when the event happens again in Easter 2011.

Corporate (Dressed) Ducks
The  larger  (true  size)  ducks  were  sold  to  businesses  to compete in a corporate  best  dressed  duck competition.

Thanks to the 120+ entries for dressed ducks event - a magnificent  display of creativity, colour and ingenuity.  The judges had a very hard task to pick the winners.
